Swiss Craftsmanship. Belgian Heritage.
Rodania's story began in 1930, when the Baumgartner family established the company in Switzerland.
The brand quickly developed a reputation for its slim watches and pocket watches and began expanding beyond Switzerland, establishing sales offices in cities including New York, Montreal, Caracas, Madrid, and Brussels.
It was in Belgium, however, that Rodania would develop one of its strongest and most enduring connections.
In 1951, Manfred Aebi, a young Swiss immigrant, took charge of the company's Brussels operation. What was intended to be a temporary assignment eventually became a lifelong commitment to Belgium.
Together with his wife, Simone Verlinden, Manfred helped build a family connection with Rodania that would continue through their children and ultimately become an important part of the company's history.
This unique combination of Swiss watchmaking expertise and Belgian identity remains central to Rodania today.
The Birth of the Rodania Name

Originally introduced as Rodana, the brand adopted the name Rodania in 1952 following a legal dispute.
Just two years later, the company would produce a watch that demonstrated its ambitions in mechanical watchmaking.
The Geometer
Introduced in 1954, the Rodania Geometer was a stainless-steel chronograph powered by the legendary Valjoux 72 movement.
The movement was adjusted to three positions, reflecting the company's attention to accuracy and regulation. Production was limited, with estimates suggesting that fewer than 1,000 examples were made.
Available with either a black or silver dial, the Geometer has since become an intriguing piece of Rodania's vintage history and a reminder of the brand's commitment to mechanical watchmaking.
From Watchmaker to Belgian Icon
Rodania's relationship with Belgium grew dramatically over the decades.
By the 1970s, the brand had become a familiar name in Belgian households. Rodania watches were frequently associated with important milestones, including communions, graduations, and family celebrations.
The brand also became closely connected with Belgian cycling through its famous advertising jingle, which accompanied cycling races beginning in the 1950s.
For an entire generation, Rodania became more than a name on a watch dial. It became a familiar part of Belgian life.
For many, the brand evokes memories of family, celebrations, childhood, and a simpler time.
A Brand That Refused to Disappear
The watch industry changed dramatically with the arrival of quartz technology.
Like many traditional Swiss manufacturers, Rodania faced enormous pressure from the growing availability of inexpensive quartz watches from Japan and the Far East.
By the mid-1990s, the company was struggling and its Swiss manufacturing operation had been dramatically reduced.
But Rodania's story wasn't over.
Recognizing the importance of the brand, the Aebi family stepped in to secure its future, acquiring the Rodania brand, licenses, and copyrights.
The company continued operating from Belgium, using its Brussels office as an international sales and distribution center and expanding into additional European markets.

Rodania celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2010, marking the occasion with the return of automatic watches to its collection.
The brand subsequently passed through new ownership, including its acquisition by Belgian investor Philip Cracco in 2015.
Then, in 2022, Rodania entered another new chapter when it was acquired by the Vincent Gaye Company, a Belgium-based company specializing in watches and jewelry distribution.
With new energy behind the name, the focus is on bringing Rodania's heritage and watchmaking philosophy to a new generation.
